Alaska, Alps, & More
I love the freedom of traveling by train. I frequently purchase the Eurail GLobal Pass which is the non-european version of the Interrail Pass. Whichever pass you buy, they appear to work the same.
Consider train travel if you love being able to see the beautiful countryside close up and don’t want to face the often lengthy process of airline travel. If your itinerary is fixed, you may prefer to fly or purchase individual train tickets.
When I travel by train, I try to keep my itinerary flexible and often don’t even book hotels until I’m on the train and have a good idea of where I’ll spend a night or more.
Sometimes, I just show up at a train station, look at the departure boards, and throw an imaginary dart to pick my next journey. This is so fun and so much easier if you’re traveling solo or with another adventurous travel companion. Try it sometime.
